I've always wanted to build a house. Living in Perth, I grew up being surrounded by a swathe of sand drifts filled with newly constructed brick megaliths.
I always knew there was something wrong with this.
My Dad also helped by penning a book in 1978 called "The Wise House". Written with John James, an engineer friend, it was devoted to adapting houses to the Australian climate through passive solar principles.
So I've always wanted to build a house that would be better, would be more sensible for the Australian climate.
Now, I'm back with my fiance and we're building - let's see how we do.
